As a package, the Plextor M6 Pro is without doubt one of the most impressive solid state drives we have tested this year. First impressions certainly are memorable – we have yet to see a Solid State drive ship in a rose gold box, with such an extensive bundle, including caching software, SATA cables, adapter bays and other goodies...more
The Plextor M6S 256 GB SSD is quite a good offering. The finish of the drive looks quite nice and stands out against a market of decal ladened drives. Build quality also seems to match the drive’s external finish. All the internal components were well chosen and the benchmarks reflect that...more
Perceived performance is extremely snappy. When launching Photoshop or other drive intensive applications the time to load is significantly reduced and overall performance of the application during use has increased too. If you’re a modder, want to reduce clutter inside your case and your board supports M.2, or just want to be an early adopter grab the Plextor M6e SSD and run with it, you won’t be disappointed...more
A well built drive which has some impressive performance mixed with interesting features. Like every other high end drive in using SATA 3 it is somewhat limited by the interface so we look forward to seeing what the M.2 edition does. A worthy winner of our recommended award...more
Rounding off our look across the entire M6 product range that Plextor has to offer, the M6S has delivered the same hard drive that both the M6e and M6M did when we looked at them previously. Aside from the strong levels of performance right throughout the test range, the price point is one of the M6S’ strongest selling points...more
I think this is a drive that truly can bring Plextor back into the spotlight. The have never really left it, they’ve just been pushed a bit to the side by new contesters. A beautiful drive worthy of the Plextor name and one I’d like to award the innovation award for going beyond the limitations of the SATA3 bus. Something unique out-of-the-box, specially on the consumer level...more
If you are indeed looking for an upgrade to your ultrabook or even an SSD boot drive to your Z77 or Z87 intel platform computer that has a mPCIE slot for mSATA SSDs, we highly recommend the Plextor M6M...more
When we look at power consumption we again see very small values up-to 0.25 Watt on average. That makes the Plextor M6S also very suited for mobile products, so if you are on the lookout for an upgrade in your laptop, this drive can make all the difference. The final factor is of course pricing, and Plextor is being rather aggressive here...more
If you're in the market for an mSATA drive for a small form factor build or to upgrade a notebook, and don't want to break the bank, you should absolutely check out the Plextor M6M series.
